In order to get to know stories of nature connection from those around you, consider conducting an interview. Wait… why? Well, it could make a fun topic of conversation and help both of you reflect on the outdoor spaces that we know and love. Below is a format for sample questions:
For the video extensions (listed below), consider audio or video recording the interview.
Interview questions:
0: Consider a place that helps you reconnect with nature.
- Where is this place and how can you get to it?
- What kind of rocks, soil, or geological landforms can you find in this place?
- How does water affect this place?
- What are the general air, temperature, and elevation conditions of this place?
- How would you describe the flora and fauna of this place?
- To what extent, or for what reasons, do humans visit or live in this place?
- In what ways can human impacts be seen in this place?
- What are your personal experiences, connections, and memories to this place?
- Why do you think this place helps you reconnect with nature?
- What recommendations would you give for someone who wanted to reconnect with nature in this place?
Video Extension: Create and share a video based on this interview.
Format idea: After the interview, visit the place. Try to capture, in photo or video, as many of the described elements as possible. Overlay the text or audio of the interview with the captured scenes. Alternatively, you can research and use images from an internet search or from the person themselves.
